DGB-1400BCPC at a Glance
The DGB-1400BCPC stores beans in a sealed hopper on top, grinds the amount you dial in, and brews it into a glass carafe on a warming plate. These are its specs.

Tour the Burr Grind & Brew
Tap a number to see what each button and part does.
1Hopper release knob
Turn it to unlock, then lift the hopper off to fill or clean it. Turn it back to lock. The grinder will not run, and the machine beeps, until the hopper is locked. Owners who say they had to hold the hopper down had left it unlocked.
Shop the hopper2Bean hopper
Holds up to half a pound of whole beans under a sealed lid. Keep it at least half full, and do not overpack it, which can jam the grinder. Owners say a full hopper lasts 3 to 8 days, depending on the size of the pot.
3Water reservoir
The lid flips up at the back of the top. Pour in exactly the cups you want to brew, using the window on the right side, and never past the 12-cup line. The machine brews all the water you add. The charcoal water filter sits inside and gets changed every 60 days or 60 uses.
Shop water filters4Burr grinder and chute
Under the hopper. Grounds travel down a chute into the basket, and that chute clogs if you do not brush it out. Lift off the hopper, flip the channel cover, brush the grounds toward you and push the chute lever so they fall into the basket. Cuisinart says every 1 to 2 weeks. Owners who use dark, oily roasts brush it every few days.
5On/Off and Auto Off
Starts a brew now. Hold it for 2 seconds to set how long the warming plate stays on after brewing, from 0 to 4 hours. Five beeps mean the pot is done.
6Display, Hour and Min
Shows the clock, the Auto On time and the strength (MILD, MED or STRONG). Hold Hour or Min for 2 seconds to set the clock. It has no backlight, so set it in good light.
7Program (Auto On)
Hold it for 2 seconds, set the start time with Hour and Min, then press Program again before bed so its light is on. The pot grinds and brews at that time.
8Grind Off
Turns the grinder off for pre-ground coffee, and an amber light shows it is off. Use 1 level scoop per cup, up to 16 scoops. Owners use it for decaf, or to brew without the grinder noise while someone sleeps.
9Grind Control dial
Sets how many cups of beans to grind, from 2 to 12 in steps of 2. It does not measure the water. Set it above the water for a stronger pot, for example 10 on the dial with 8 cups of water, or below it for a milder one.
10Strength Control
Mild, medium or strong. The display shows your pick.
11Filter basket door
The whole front panel is the filter door. Press the release button on the left side of the machine to open it. Inside are the basket, the gold-tone filter and a basket cover that must line up with the GRIND arrows. The machine beeps until the door, basket and cover are in place and last pot's grounds are emptied.
Shop filters12Brew Pause
Lift the carafe mid-brew to pour a cup, then put it back within 20 seconds or the basket can overflow. The manual warns that early cup tastes different from the finished pot.
13Glass carafe
Holds 12 cups of 5 oz. Owners say a full 12 cups of water yields about 11 in the pot. Six owners say the thermal carafe from their older Cuisinart fits.
See carafes14Warming plate
Keeps the pot hot until Auto Off runs out, up to 4 hours. It has one heat level. Owners say that once it shuts off, it will not restart without opening the filter door and starting a new cycle, so they microwave leftovers.

What Do Owners Say About the DGB-1400BCPC
Costco owners rate the Costco-exclusive DGB-1400BCPC 4.3 out of 5 stars, and most reviews are short praise for the taste of fresh-ground coffee.
We read 833 Costco reviews posted from late 2023 to October 2026. Each tile shows how many of those reviews raised the topic and what owners do about it. The most common complaint, grinder noise, comes up in about 1 in 12 reviews.
- Taste
- About 130 of 833praise the taste of fresh-ground coffee
- Repeat buyers
- 72 of 833replaced the same machine, some after 10 to 16 years
- Timer
- 31 of 833like waking up to a fresh pot. If it does not start, press Program again before bed so its light is on
- Grinder noise
- 69 of 833call it loud, as every grinder is. Brew with Grind Off and pre-ground coffee while others sleep
- Cup dial
- 39 of 833expected the dial to set how much it brews. It sets the beans, so pour in only the cups you want
- Grind chute
- 29 of 833say it clogs. Oily dark roasts clog every grinder, so brush the chute when you refill the hopper
- Grounds in the pot
- 26 of 833found grounds in the cup. Swap the gold-tone filter for a paper basket filter
- Strength
- 24 of 833found it too weak or too strong. Set the dial above the water for stronger, below for milder
- Heat
- 44 of 833mention heat, split between hot and lukewarm. The warming plate has one setting
Among reviews about the machine itself, the three most-helpful have 49, 38 and 23 helpful votes. Two are surprised that it brews the whole reservoir, and one of them adds that the water opening at the back is hard to reach. The third comes from an owner who switched from Cuisinart’s later DGB-800 and calls this older design better, because its chute can be cleaned.
The grinder runs for about 10 to 30 seconds. Like any grinder, it can wake a light sleeper, so owners who brew early use Grind Off with coffee they ground the night before.
DGB-1400BCPC vs DGB-700BC
The DGB-1400BCPC is the DGB-700BC sold under a Costco-only model number.
It ships with the DGB-700 manual, one owner received a unit labeled DGB-1400BC with that manual, and another says Cuisinart told them the DGB-1400BCPC is a Costco-only model.

Should I Upgrade From the DGB-700BC
No, a working DGB-700BC does not need replacing. It is the same machine.
Buy the Costco model if your DGB-700BC or DGB-900BC died, because Costco is the only place left to buy it new. Many owners did exactly that after 10 years or more on the old one.
If only the carafe broke, replace the carafe. A third-party glass carafe built for the DGB-700BC costs a fraction of a new machine, and Cuisinart still sells its own DGB-700CRF by phone.
What We Like
- Fresh-ground coffee on a timer. Load it the night before and wake up to a pot ground minutes ago.
- No measuring. The hopper holds half a pound of beans, about 3 to 8 days of coffee, and the dial grinds the right amount every time.
- One less appliance. The burr grinder is built in, so the stand-alone grinder can go.
- Pre-ground works too. Press Grind Off for decaf or a bag you already have.
- You set the strength. Mild, medium or strong, and the dial and the water fine-tune it from there.
- People buy it again. Many owners replaced the same machine after 10 years or more on the last one.
Drawbacks
- The cup dial doesn’t measure water. It only sets how many beans get ground. The machine brews every drop in the reservoir, so pour in what you want to drink plus 1 cup, since a cup is lost to steam and the grounds.
- The grind chute needs brushing. Brush it every time you refill the hopper. Dark, oily roasts stick in any grinder.
- Fine grounds can get in the pot. Use a paper basket filter in place of the gold-tone filter. Don’t stack the two, or the basket can back up.
- It’s tall. Measure under your cabinets first. The water goes in at the back, so you’ll pull it forward to fill it.
- No reheat. Once the warming plate shuts off, it won’t turn back on until you open the filter door and start a new brew. If you drink coffee all morning, set Auto Off to 4 hours.
- It ships in its retail box. Costco sends it without an outer carton, so check the carafe and hopper when it arrives.
Replacement Parts and Supplies
Costco sells the machine and nothing that wears out on it. These are the parts the DGB-1400BCPC uses, with Cuisinart part numbers.
Cuisinart lists the Costco model by name only for the gold-tone filter. The basket, hopper and carafe parts are listed for the DGB-700BC, the machine it is built on.

DGB-1400BCPC Manual
Costco ships the DGB-1400BCPC with Cuisinart’s 14-page DGB-700 series booklet, which covers setup, programming the timer, cleaning the chute and descaling.
See the Cuisinart DGB-700BC page, with the manual and parts
Before the first pot, the manual says to run one cycle with only water and a paper filter, with the grinder running empty, to clear dust from the factory.
Is the DGB-1400BCPC Worth It
Yes, the Costco-exclusive DGB-1400BCPC is worth it if you want fresh-ground coffee without a separate grinder. Owners report paying $99 to $160, depending on Costco’s sale price.
Owners rate it 4.3 stars at Costco and praise the taste and the timer. The thing to know before you buy is the cup dial, which sets the beans, not the water.
If you want a machine that measures its own water, or a quiet morning, look at a plain drip maker and a separate grinder. Common Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker DGB-1400BCPC questions
Is the Cuisinart DGB-700BC discontinued?
Yes, Cuisinart lists the DGB-700BC Burr Grind & Brew as discontinued, and Amazon no longer sells it new. Costco sells the DGB-1400BCPC, a Costco-only model that ships with the DGB-700 manual. It is the same design, and Cuisinart lists its GTF-B gold-tone filter for both.
How many scoops of coffee for a 12 cup Cuisinart coffee maker?
The Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew manual calls for 1 level scoop of ground coffee per cup, up to 16 level scoops for a full pot. That only applies with Grind Off and pre-ground coffee. With whole beans, the grinder measures the coffee from the cup dial, so you pour in only the water.
Can I run vinegar through my Cuisinart coffee maker?
Yes, the Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew manual says to descale it with a full reservoir of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. Press Grind Off, then On, and let one full cycle run. Run a second cycle with fresh cold water to rinse. Hard water needs it more often.
What are the common problems with Cuisinart grind and brew coffee makers?
The Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew brews all the water in the reservoir, because its cup dial only sets how many beans it grinds. Its grind chute clogs if you skip brushing it, especially with oily dark roasts. Fine grounds can pass the gold-tone filter, which a paper basket filter fixes.
What are the older models of Cuisinart automatic grind and brew machines?
Cuisinart's burr Grind & Brew line includes the DGB-700BC with a glass carafe and the DGB-900BC with a thermal carafe, both now discontinued. Costco's DGB-1400BCPC uses the DGB-700 manual and takes the same gold-tone filter. Cuisinart's DCC-2400RC thermal carafe is listed for the DGB-900BC.
