First Impressions
Kirkland Signature Organic House Decaf is a light, smooth cup that goes down easily. The acidity sits in the middle, neither sharp nor flat, and the floral aroma is subtle but there.
It tastes like a toned-down version of Kirkland’s regular house coffee. To us it tastes a lot like a Starbucks house coffee, and it reminded us of Yuban without the harshness. There is a slightly bitter, burnt note, which we have found in other Kirkland roasts too.
What’s in the Pod
Organic House Decaf is a medium roast of 100% Arabica coffee. It is certified organic, Fair Trade Certified and kosher. Costco does not say which countries the beans come from, and it publishes no roast or body scores.
The caffeine is removed with a water process. Costco’s listing says no chemicals are used, and it does not name the decaffeinator or the roaster. Costco describes the coffee as a decaf medium roast with bright acidity and notes of white fruit and brown sugar.
